Before you buy a skiff or get into guiding you are obsessed with the fishery and "catching' the fish. Much changes once you become an actual guide. For one your actual time on the bow diminishes to about 5% of the time you are on the water. And two, you care less about catching the fish and more about letting your words of guidance be your rod (at least that's how Mangum puts it). It's an art and it's beautiful. May sound cliche but its true, if it wasn't there wouldn't be so many guides. However, we still love that 5% and actually appreciate it even more than we did before.
